For me, teaching is about relationship building and facilitating learning through a strength-based approach that empowers and promotes self-efficacy. My students have always taught me just as much as I have taught them. What I have also learned over the years is that many of the greatest teachable moments are unpredictable and can be truly transformational for both learner and educator. As part of the M.Ed. program, I created a self-directed course, Intergenerational Connections and Community Building, that involved 3 components:
1) curriculum development
2) literature review
3) self-reflection and auto-ethnography

Integrating portfolios into courses:

I have been learning and helping students create portfolios since the beginning of my career as a high school teacher and career advisor. This year as classes pivoted to online learning, students created e-portfolios. This example is from a student that was able to use her portfolio in an employer interview and in an interview/application for a post-secondary program.
